Man City will turn their attentions to Kolo Touré
Manchester City will turn their attentions to a £12m bid for the Arsenal defender Kolo Touré, after John Terry declared yesterday that he has decided against joining them.
City were still maintaining hopes at the weekend that the silence from the Chelsea camp regarding the England captain’s future left the door open for them. But the improved deal Chelsea have put Terry’s way has proved decisive. City have heard what the defender has to say and there was no sense from the club last night that one last wage offer would be made to tempt him.

Manchester City join race to sign Tottenham flop David Bentley
Manchester City have made a surprise move for Tottenham’s David Bentley.
Eastlands boss Mark Hughes, who managed Bentley at Blackburn, is keen to add the former England midfielder to his squad. Bentley joined Spurs for £16million a year ago.

The Gunners have had a £7m bid for Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh rejected
ARSENE WENGER has been told top striker target Marouane Chamakh will cost £7million PLUS defender Mikael Silvestre.
The Arsenal boss offered that sum to Bordeaux but the French club rejected the bid — unless former Manchester United star Silvestre is also part of the deal.
Wenger sees Chamakh, 25, as a replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor, who is on the verge of a move to Manchester City.

Downing set for Villa move
Middlesbrough agree £12million fee for winger
The England international had been widely expected to leave the Riverside this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
And he now looks poised to join Martin O’Neill’s side in the Midlands after an accord was reached between his two clubs for his services.
Downing suffered a broken foot – ironically against Villa – in the penultimate game of last season and underwent surgery over the summer.
